Weekly Schedule and More!

Hi again folks. MGR suggested that I deliver more hard hitting posts about our favorite hobby so here I am with a weekly plan. I'm not the quickest writer (having just learned homerow) but I think I can handle this okay. Now where did the f key go? How did I just insert an upside down question mark¿! Okay I think I have a handle on things again. And here's my proposed schedule:
  • EDH Sundays: I'll be splitting reporting duties with MGR for updates to our round robin adventure and I'll be posting my reports on Sunday. Expect stats, deck list changes, and epic misplays.
  • Mistform Mondays: Just like the ever changing mistforms of Onslaught block, I'll be talking about just about anything that doesn't neatly fit in for the other days. This includes casual formats such as Planechase, Pack Wars, Duel Decks, and more. And I'm especially excited to try out the new Hydra challenge debuting at Game Day. Hope we can pick up a deck and find a fun format within.
  • Deck Tech Tuesdays: Anyone remember tech decks? I'll be... kick flipping? Short hopping? Um bad analogy aside, this is when I'll post up deck lists and give an analysis on how it plays and possible changes. Expect the EDH decks initially but it'll be expanding to more formats as we go along.
  • MTGO Wednesdays: My budget focused MTGO reports will be here. Constructed reports will be mostly on Standard but there will also be Momir Basic games thrown in. Most of my MTGO Daily Event experience has been in Momir Basic and I still consider it to be a wonderful and cheap format to jump into.
  • Theorycraft Thursdays: Hey that's today! Thursdays will be when I talk about spoilers, my own future plans, and thoughts on upcoming events and releases. Warning: predictions are not actuarially sound.
  • FNM Limited Fridays: My preferred format of choice for Friday Night Magic is drafting but I'm sure there will be the occasional constructed game thrown in. Theros has been a blast so far and I'm excited to try the other non-blue tempo strategies. On days where I'm unable to provide a draft report, I'll talk about cube drafting and my attempts to finally build one. I've assembled a Modern Masters cube that's been quite fun and hope to finally dip into the deep card pool and enjoy the wonders of cubing.
  • Standard/Modern Saturdays: These will vary between tourney practice, constructed event reports and of course the many pick up games I do from time to time. I've always been on the more casual side for these formats but perhaps it's finally time to try some competitive play. The stories MGR shares have been fairly exciting and I can't live vicariously through him forever!
So! Since it's Thursday, I wanted to talk a bit about the Friday plans MGR mentioned earlier. I hope to do both Standard and Draft if possible and maybe pick up a couple nice cards, boxes, dice, etc. I've always been a fan of properly accessorizing my MTG experience. The deck we've been working on is a UW tempo build that's designed to hit quickly with 1-3 drops and use cards like Imposing Sovereign, Detention Sphere, and Wavecrash Triton to slow the opponent's mid-late game drops long enough to snag a victory. It has a couple late game plays in Sphinx's Revelation and the Bident of Thassa to keep cards in hand to allow us to continually apply pressure but the deck is at its strongest in the early game and tries to close things quickly before their late game creatures outmatch mine. And the secret tech to help push the early game tempo has been: Hidden Strings. Such a wonderful card! So far in our testing, we've been pretty impressed by how the deck performs against the other decks in the meta and I'm optimistic in playing it this Friday. Expect a deck list some time soon and a report on how well everything goes.

Well, that's my schedule and I hope to stick with it. I'm sure there will be some kinks to work out along the way but that's why they call it an adventure. I hope you enjoy the trip.
